With celebrity chefs, cookery demos, sausage competitions, entertainment for all ages and of course the food! To sample, to buy to eat and to take home for later. The route takes the main road to Hawkshead and runs through the centre of the village, which is a great vantage point to watch the runners passing through. Or cheer the runners as they cross the finish line on the front lawn of Brathay Hall on the shores of Lake Windermere. Look out for the 15 runners in distinctive running vests completing their 10th marathon in 10 days, and setting world records as they do so.

The festival culminates with the International Jesters Tournament held on the final day when the Fool of Muncaster 2018 will be crowned.
Flower-covered variously-shaped rush structures called Bearings are paraded through the town to the accompaniment of a brass band; once the Market Place is reached, the Bearings are raised in the air and the Ambleside Rushbearing Hymn is sung before the procession carries on to St Mary’s Church by about 3.15. Gingerbread is distributed after the short church service, and there are childrens sports and a Fell Race later in the day.
